ABSTRACT:

Social media is that dais which equips people to share their knowledge, proficiency etc, with the world. All this is done through internet and gadgets .In this modernistic world where most of the things work virtually even interacting, social media serves a great role. It’s a rostrum through which zillion functions are performed, be it branding, interacting, learning, promoting, sharing etc. People are so coddled in its blanket that they forget about the real world. Instead of using it efficiently they are squandering it. David Alston said that “Social media is not a media. The key is to listen, engage and build relationships”. It’s a two edged sword one is the bleeding blade and another one is the healing blade. There is one question raised by every parent that, why are kids always on gadgets? The answer to the question is quite overt and that is ‘Social media’. The explicit uses of gadgets are learning, sharing, and interacting, though media. The colossal problem with social media is that it eats a lot of time, which is crucial for good media presence. Furthermore it affects human psychology, and feeds fabricated image of other people and it’s like a disease because everyone wants to become the person they follow. All this is done through various social sites such as facebook, twitter, instagram, etc. These are some of the points on the bleeding side. Whereas the healing side provides the world with abundance of knowledge and array of skills and all this is just one click away. People have always been interested to know what’s happening in someone else’s life. Louis C.K said that “The only time you should look in your neighbour’s bowl is to make sure that they have enough, not to see if you have as much as them”.
