ABSTRACT:

Ground water quality of 25 villages of Fatehpur Shekhawati Block of Sikar district in Rajasthan was analyzed to assess the quality of ground water. The samples of ground water were collected in properly cleaned polyethylene one litre bottles and analysed in the laboratory of college. The physico-chemical parameters studied were Temperature, pH, electrical conductivity, fluoride (F-), Nitrate (NO3-), chloride (Cl-), total dissolved solids (TDS), Ca hardness, Mg hardness and total hardness. The outcomes revealed that the pH values were found to be ranging between 7.3-9.2, electrical conductivity 1100 to 2000 mhos cm, fluoride was found to be 5.1 to 8.3 mgl, nitrate content from 21.2 to 44.5 mgl, chloride content from 95.6 to 213 mgl, Ca hardness from 115 to 264 and total hardness (TH) varied from 211 TO 457 mgl. The most important chemical parameter fluoride was found to be 5.1 to 8.3 mgl, which is more than the BIS permissible limit in all the samples which are studied. TDS varied from 900 to 1302 mgl. The data revealed that the quality of ground water of these villages of fatehpur shekhawati block of sikar district contain high fluoride concentration, which cause of different disease called various fluorosis. The ground water of this area is not good for health.
