ABSTRACT:

Eugene Bertolt Friedrich Brecht (1898-1956) leftbehind an impressive literary contribution having introduced a new method ofproducing and acting as far as theatre is concerned. Modern drama has receivedthe legacy of Brecht’s theory of the “Epic” theatre and has been greatlyinfluenced by his powerful technique. Brecht sought to establish an Epic dramawhich would dispense with the customary artifices and emotional compulsions ofthe conventional theatre. He wanted the actors and the spectators alike to viewthe characters on the stage with both a dispassionate detachment as well ascritical observation.
