Diabetes not only places a financial but a psychological strain on the person. These conditions make the management of diabetes complex. The American Diabetes Association has proposed including family members and the psychosocial community in the treatment of individuals with type 2 diabetes, to evaluate the efficacy of their engagement in diabetes management.
