ABSTRACT:

Our present society is ICT based information society. The flood of information has to be controlled, analysed and channelled so as to derive maximum benefit. At this juncture, Public library is the ideal place for collecting, storing, and disseminating the right information to the user. In order to execute such task, Public libraries in Mizoram have taken steps to automate their libraries. This paper deals the real issues related to the automation process and tries to find out its barriers. It will also suggest some measures and challenges for the development of public libraries through automation.
