A Study on Charles Dickens’S Novel a Tale of Two Cities |

Dr. Dalbir Singh, in Journal of Advances and Scholarly Researches in Allied Education | Multidisciplinary Academic Research

ABSTRACT:

A Tale of Two Cities is perhaps the leastcharacteristic of Charles Dickens's works. Unlike both his earlier and hislater novels, which are largely concerned with events within the Victoriansociety in which he lived, A Tale ofTwo Cities is set during a period some seventy years earlier. It showsboth France and England in an unflattering light. Perhaps because the novel isso uncharacteristic of the author, it remains among the author's most popularworks with readers who do not generally enjoy Dickens. On the other hand, it isoften rated the least popular Dickens novel among Dickens fans.
